Children

Gentle, friendly care for our youngest patients.

We treat children calmly and without rushing. The first visit is mostly about letting the child get used to the practice: seeing the chair, meeting us, and finding out there is nothing to be afraid of.

It is better to come before there is a problem; the visit is then just a look and a chat, and the child does not remember the practice for the pain. Do come in if you notice a white or brown mark on a tooth, if your child complains of sensitivity, or if a tooth is injured.

Baby teeth matter: they hold the space for the adult teeth, they take part in speech and chewing, and decay hurts in them just as much. Alongside treatment we therefore also do prevention: sealing the deep grooves of the biting surfaces, and applying fluoride to strengthen the enamel.

Parents are welcome to stay during the visit. We would ask you not to prepare your child with words like pain, needle or drilling: even when they are meant as reassurance, they tell the child there is something to fear.

We explain what we are going to do in words the child understands, and show it before we touch them. If something is not working, we would rather stop and try again next time; with a child, trust is part of the treatment.
